Hello Fellow Halloween Lovers and Travelers in Life’s Stranger Byways!
I hope you’re having a fabulous spooky season. I thought I’d let you all know about what I’ve been up to so far this October…but you’re also the first to get a peek beyond the veil of something new that I’m very excited about: introducing The Whole Haunted World!
So what is this? Well, let’s get the big thing out of the way first: it will be my first paid subscription newsletter. Now, don’t worry: If you only want to continue getting my monthly author newsletter for free, you’ll be fine! But if you’d like to take a deeper dive into most of what I write about, you’ll get exclusive, in-depth articles (and some fiction) here that you won’t find anywhere else. You’ll get ‘em twice a month, along with a complete serialized book, The Skeptic’s Guide to Ghost-Hunting; you’ll also have access to one podcast a month, the occasional extra post, and the opportunity to chat with me and others in what I hope will become a fun community of like-minded souls. You’ll get all this for $5 a month (or $50 annually).
This coming Sunday, October 20th, the first installment of The Whole Haunted World will go out, and this debut issue will be free. Hopefully you’ll like what you read and want to become a part of this new venture.
Thanks, and stay haunted!
HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS
As usual, my October has been/still is a mad whirlwind! Here are the ones I can definitely share so far:
Back in September I recorded four episodes of a delightful PBS SoCal webseries called Won’t You Be My Gamer? The first and second episodes focus on Halloween, while #3 and #4 are about ghosts. These were really fun to tape!
I loved talking to my pals Miranda and Mike for their podcast By Pumpkin’s Light
For That Halloween Podcast, host Jeff and I talked about one of my favorite Halloween movies, Ghostwatch
On Halloween day, I’ll be guesting on USA Today’s The Excerpt podcast
I guested on Harry Hill’s Are We There Yet? podcast, although I’m not sure when that will air
I recorded an episode of the fascinating podcast Bound by the Cloak, which should air soon
On October 21st at 9 am PST/12 noon EST, I’ll be doing a live presentation on the history of Halloween for the Lorain County Community College Writers Resource Center
On October 27th at 7 am PST, I’ll be appearing live on Dave Nemo Weekends on SiriusXM Channel 146
On October 28th at 4 pm PST/7 pm EST, I’ll be doing a live presentation on the History of Halloween for the Wake County Public Library - registration is free to all
On October 29th at 8 pm PST, I’ll be chatting live on KSCO’s “The Nighthawk” radio show
On October 31st at 9 am PST, I’ll be live on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “The Larry Meiller Show”
And I’m quoted in this article at Mental Floss, love the title: “Five Ways Halloween Used to Be Terrible”
And these are just the ones I know about…! Whew!
Someone’s been super busy!
Good luck with premium offering!
