Love the idea of tulpas! I feel pretty sure that I'm gonna steal that for a short story.

Congratulations on completing your fifth novel! Glad the notes from your agent proved beneficial. Constructive feedback is such a gift, and it's exhilarating when you find implementing it improves your work.

Why do I keep reading this as "Halloween bears?" Haha! My favorite Halloween-adjacent beer is New Belgium's Atomic Pumpkin.

I'm so happy to have found a Halloween-themed Substack! My life is Halloween-themed, so it's nice to find like minded people!

My first serial featured a tulpa as the antagonist. I've always been fascinated by the concept. I'm going to have to watch The Empty Man.

How is it September already? The next two months are going to fly by, but here’s hoping they are a happy blur of spooky fun (and income for you). And I’m sure you haven’t time, but SOME year I hope you’ll have a chance to read A Night in the Lonesome October. I think you’ll like it.

You might want to check out 'Magic and Mystery in Tibet.' I spent two years at a Tibetan Buddhist retreat center. Interesting things happened.

Everyday is Halloween in our household and my 16 year old daughter loves your work. So if won the book would be hers, hopefully she will let me read it, lol.

It was the tv show Supernatural, or maybe it was Grant Morrison, in his book Supergods, introduced me to the idea of the “tulpa” - Morrison, I think, used the concept of a tulpa to explain the endurance of Superman, and how regardless of writer, the character returns to its platonic version. Easily explained by corporate or editorial decree, but also, I think all writers know when plotting a character’s actions, there are certain behaviors a well-established character will simply refuse to do…

Ever since, I’ve had the horror-story idea of millions of lonely boys accidentally emanating a “tulpa” by focusing too hard (all at the same time) on a popular porn star, who obviously will walk in the real world as an unforgiving supernatural slasher
